Embracing Change: A 6-Week Journey for Women Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

Welcome to our transformative six-week therapy group, rooted in the empowering principles of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model and mindfulness meditation. This group is designed specifically for women navigating the complexities of grief, relationship changes, and career challenges.

Led by an experienced therapist, this group provides a safe and supportive space for participants to explore their emotions, deepen their understanding of themselves, and cultivate resilience in the face of multifaceted life transitions. Whether you're grappling with the loss of a loved one, experiencing difficulties in your relationships, facing occupational stresses, or navigating significant changes in your career path, this program offers a holistic approach to healing that honors each individual's unique journey.

Through guided exercises, group discussions, and compassionate exploration, we aim to foster healing, growth, and connection within a community of understanding peers. Join us as we embark on a journey of mindful self-discovery and transformation, finding strength and solace together in the midst of life's challenges.

Week 1: Getting to Know Your Inner Family

  • Introduction to the IFS model

  • Understanding the concept of "parts" and "Self"

    • Manager, Firefighter, Exile

  • Guided meditation: Meeting your inner family members

  • Group discussion and sharing: Identifying primary parts and their roles in managing life changes

Week 2: Exploring Parts and Their Roles

  • Deepening understanding of different parts (managers, firefighters, exiles)

  • Group exercise: Mapping out your inner family system

  • Guided visualization: Connecting with parts related to current life changes

  • Journaling activity: Exploring the origins and purposes of dominant parts

Week 3: Nurturing Self-Compassion

  • Introduction to the concept of Self-compassion within the IFS framework

  • Group discussion: Recognizing self-criticism and cultivating self-compassion

  • Mindfulness practice: Loving-kindness meditation for self

  • Group sharing: Challenges and breakthroughs in practicing self-compassion

Week 4: Healing Exiled Parts

  • Understanding the role of exiled parts and their impact on life changes

  • Group activity: Inner dialogue with exiled parts

  • Guided visualization: Creating a safe inner sanctuary for exiled parts

  • Art therapy exercise: Expressing emotions associated with exiled parts through art

Week 5: Integrating Parts and Self

  • Exploring the process of unburdening and integrating parts

  • Group discussion: Recognizing and challenging inner conflicts

  • Role-playing exercise: Negotiating conflicts between parts

  • Journaling activity: Reflecting on the integration process and its impact on managing life changes

Week 6: Embracing Transformation

  • Celebrating progress and insights gained throughout the program

  • Group sharing: Expressing gratitude and support for one another's journeys

  • Closing ceremony: Setting intentions for embracing ongoing transformation beyond the program

  • Resources and support networks: Providing resources for continued personal growth and integration post-program

"Embracing Change" offers a holistic and empowering approach to navigating life changes using the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. Through self-exploration, self-compassion, and integration of inner parts, women are supported in embracing transformation and moving forward with resilience and authenticity.

The rate for this group is $80 per 60-minute group session. The group meets every Friday at 5:00 pm. If you’d like to use insurance for this group, please send your insurance information.
